Eagles Badminton Club is a friendly and competitive club based at Samuel Cody School in Cove, Farnborough, Hampshire (Ballantyne Road, Farnborough, GU14 8SN). We play for 50 weeks of the year with our Club Night on Tuesdays and new members and visitors are always welcome. If you are getting back to badminton after a break or injury, or just completed a training course and looking for a club you are very welcome to come along and have a complimentary first visit.
From 26th July until 1st September, club night hours will be:
19:45 to 22:00
We have 3 or 4 courts from 20:15pm to 22:30pm every Tuesday (unless Summer hours in place). Eagles play with feather shuttles and predominantly play doubles (mixed and levels), operating a peg-board system on Club Night to ensure varied and competitive games.
At least twice a year we have friendly in-house tournaments and various social events throughout the year.
We enter several teams in the Aldershot & Camberley District Badminton League. Our league matches are played at Samuel Cody on some Tuesdays and also at another local venue for our league home matches which are on Fridays throughout the season from September to April.
We are always eager to see some new faces, so why not come and join us for a session?
If you would like any further information please contact us.
Date for Diary – ACDBL AGM
Wednesday 13th July, 19.45 (Online via Zoom only)
The ACDBL League committee have a couple of proposals that will be discussed during the AGM:
1 – revert the official season dates back to 1st September – May 14th (last results to be received on 15th May)
2 – remove the clause relating to Covid cancellations to be treated the same as inclement weather, with the caveat that this can be revisited during the season should Covid levels increase
3 – similar to the rule on filling essential committee vacancies on a club rotation, suggest that a rotating ex-Oficio position is added as the committee has had less members for the last couple of seasons now
The league would like to make our usual charitable donation this season, and would like to offer clubs the option to nominate charities for this, so please let us know either in advance or on the night of any charities you would like to be considered.
Ladies 6 – we currently have interest for 3 teams for Ladies 6 next year, and would really like to make this up to 4 teams so we can run this format. Would any clubs have players interested in forming a hybrid team? And is there anything that clubs believe the committee could do to encourage this (for example for the committee to co-ordinate players)?
Team fees will be returning for the 2022/23 season, but will remain at the previous level of £10 per team.
